The Reykjavik EDITION has set a new standard as the Icelandic capital’s first truly luxury hotel experience, since opening in preview late last year. This month, THE ROOF opens at The Reykjavik EDITION as the hotel’s hotly anticipated rooftop bar, promising stunning 360°panoramic views of the Ocean, Mount Esja and the Snæfellsjökul glacier.
Overlooking the harbor and ocean, THE ROOF is set to be the best place in Reykjavik to enjoy the endless bright summer evenings that Iceland has to offer. The venue also provides an unparalleled chance to view the magical northern lights in the colder months, set against the backdrop of the capital’s iconic mountain range. In addition, during city celebrations such as Cultural Night and New Year’s Eve, the Harbor sky outside the hotel comes to life with firework displays, giving guests a front row seat.
THE ROOF at The Reykjavik EDITION is located on the hotel’s 7th floor and offers dramatic floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a large wrap-around seasonal outdoor terrace. It is a unique offering in Iceland’s capital and brings a stylish addition to the city’s bar scene.
The Reykjavik EDITION has been designed in partnership with local architecture firm, T.ark and New York-based studio, Roman and Williams with guidance of ISC (Ian Schrager Company) design, subtly capturing the spirit of Reykjavik while avoiding the clichés and remaining firmly rooted in the EDITION brand’s strong sense of refined sophistication and style. This extends to THE ROOF, where the slick all-black interiors create a discreet background that doesn’t distract from the venue’s phenomenal views. Putting these views at the centre of the venue’s design, the interior has a black ebonized wood floor, black window frames, black painted ceiling, and black solar shades.
