A historic local hotel has undergone an extensive renovation and has now been transformed into the new boutique hotel, Park Lane Copenhagen, which officially opened its doors on January 15, 2025. The impressive transformation has been directed by the design studio &TEMPEL, led by Camilla van den Tempel, elegantly combining the building’s historic heritage with a timeless and classic design.
Located in Hellerup, a charming suburb just north of Copenhagen, the building at Strandvejen 203 has been a central part of the community since the 1920’s. It originally served as the home of a local club, later became a cinema, and more recently functioned as a well-known hotel. This rich history has been a significant source of inspiration for designer Camilla van den Tempel, who has worked to preserve the building’s soul throughout the transformation. In the newly renovated suites, the original high ceilings and intricate stucco have been carefully retained, while the chandeliers from the former ballroom have been restored. Guests at the hotel will also encounter custom-made furniture, handcrafted wallpaper, wooden chevron floors, and opulent bathtubs from the renowned Italian brand Antoniolupi.
In an era where globalisation influences the high-end hospitality sector, Park Lane Copenhagen stands out with its design that blends local culture, history, and architecture with an international flair. The hotel is reminiscent of venues in New York and London, while maintaining a calm and serene atmosphere – a rare combination of grandeur and intimacy.
“What makes Park Lane Copenhagen truly special is the blend between local heritage and international appeal,” said Camilla van den Tempel.
At Park Lane Copenhagen, guests can expect a design that merges craftsmanship with authenticity, offering both inspiration and serenity. Every detail has been deliberately considered to create a calm, relaxing environment, while preserving a sense of vibrancy and elegance.
Even before its official opening, Park Lane Copenhagen was welcomed into the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World – a significant recognition and a testament to its exceptional design. The hotel marks a new chapter in Denmark’s high-end hospitality scene, where storytelling, timeless design, and quality materials come together. Through the transformation of this iconic building, &TEMPEL presents a design vision that redefines Danish boutique hotel design by blending Scandinavian design elements with an international flair.
