K2 Architects has completed one of its largest retail briefs by facilitating the launch of two upmarket restaurants at Liverpool ONE, a shopping, residential and leisure complex in Liverpool.
K2 Architects worked with the Liverpool ONE management team to transform existing retail space for bar and brasserie, Browns, and hamburger brand, Byron. K2 Architects was charged with making sure that the existing space was prepared for the tenants, before the restaurants brought in their own design teams to brand the units.
The dining outlets will occupy the former Zavvi unit on Paradise Place next to Jamie’s Italian. Browns has taken a unit of more than 6400ft², while Byron will occupy almost 3900ft² in its first North-west venture. Both are due to open in spring.
K2 Architects’ director Kevin Horton said the firm worked closely with the retailers, their design teams and the Liverpool ONE management company to provide the full spectrum of construction and design consultancy services.
“This latest completion for Liverpool ONE underlines the key strengths of our design, feasibility, planning, consultation and management services,” Kevin Horton, director at K2 Architects, comments. “The facilitation of the restaurants involved overseeing major structural alteration works to divide the space. Escalators and lifts were removed before partition walling, stairs, concrete mezzanine decks and new structural glass shopfronts were installed. This is the largest retail unit K2 Architects has facilitated to date, demonstrating Liverpool ONE’s confidence in our ability to deliver. We look forward to the opening of the restaurants.”
