The UK’s largest tile manufacturer, Johnson Tiles, has taken natural-effect tiles to a new level by mixing contemporary aesthetics with retro styling to create Street, its concrete-effect glazed porcelain tile for walls and floors.
Johnson Tiles prides itself on producing ranges that reflect changing trends and are able to meet the demands of modern commercial spaces. Available in three colours – Vapour, Pewter and Iron – Street is neutral in tone, and easily complements any contemporary, urban interior scheme.
Vapour is the lightest tile in the range, and features subtle, delicate flecking within the tile to create a natural appearance. Pewter is a traditional concrete colour with lighter mixed tones, while Iron is the darkest shade, bringing a deeper yet warm tone thanks to its delicate shading variations. All three colours are designed to be blended and used together on walls and floors, enabling the creation of simple yet striking schemes.
Vapour is most suited for floor specification thanks to its high, commercial-level traffic rating. The product complements the trend of pale-toned flooring to reflect light and create a feeling of space. Available in sizes 850 x 300, 600 x 600 and 300 x 300mm, the matt-finish of the tile adds to its urban appeal.
Johnson Tiles’ Selene tile, 300 x 300mm, from its Kerastar range of unglazed porcelain floor tiles, also adds an on-trend, urban edge to a scheme with the benefit of slip-resistance. Thanks to its tactile, textured Rocktop finish, Selene was specified to create a new changing room and wet areas at the state-of-the-art Suffolk New College, Ipswich.
Combined with Shark, Storm Grey and Hawk Grey colours from the Prismatics collection – the UK’s largest selection of plain colour tiles – the result is a modern mixture of monochrome, street-style shades. The dramatic scheme is capable of meeting the demands of high-traffic areas, as well as ensuring the safety of users with its suitability for wet, barefoot areas.
Over 1000m² of Johnson Tiles’ Centaurus tile from its Absolute collection was also used for the college’s atrium, along with Prismatics throughout the toilet areas, which were combined with Kerastar in the spa treatment training area.
