The new Thonet S 774 high-tech chair combines decades of furniture design expertise with innovative technology. This is the first chair where carbon fibre, plastic and epoxy resin are brought together using a new resin transfer moulding technique. The thinnest part of the S 774 is only 3mm.
The S 774 is based on a classic design – the S 664 chair, designed by Eddie Harlis for Thonet in 1954. The original S 664 moulded wood seat shell has been subtly redesigned, resulting in a more contemporary, angular outline compared to the original elliptic shape.
Increasing the chair’s comfort, the new seat shell is broader and ergonomically shaped, allowing more freedom of movement. Additionally, the shell’s contours are rounded. The connection between the seat shell and the chrome-plated round steel frame is invisible.
Thonet is represented in the UK by Crest Contracts.
