Sir Terence Conran, Lady Conran and Peter Prescott – the owners of Boundary Hotel in Shoreditch, London – were named the winners of the Independent Hotelier of the Year Award 2013 at a ceremony held at the Independent Hotel Show at Olympia yesterday evening. Presented by last year’s winner, Jeremy Goring, the accolade was awarded after the trio received the highest number of votes from industry peers.
Sir Terence comments: “It is almost five years since we opened Boundary Hotel, and we are delighted to get this very special and personal award. We like to think it recognises the love, attention to detail and individuality of our little hotel in the heart of Shoreditch.
“A lot of our own character went into the design and planning, and we have enjoyed keeping this very personal project well-maintained whilst also introducing new ideas. Little things like introducing new art and objects and changes to our rooftop garden that keep it open all year round all make the hotel very special for us.”
Peter adds: “As we approach our fifth anniversary this award is great news and fantastic for our managers and staff, many of whom have been with us since day one.”
Tim Etchells, MD at Single Market Events, the organiser of the Independent Hotel Show, concludes: “Sir Terence, Lady Conran and Peter Prescott’s contribution to the hospitality industry has been massive, and this achievement reflects their pioneering spirit and reputation for pushing boundaries within the independent hospitality sector.”
