MK Electric, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of wiring devices and accessories, has introduced The Decorative Collection. Inspired by the latest interior design trends, the new range of finishes aims to meet the most demanding customer and client requirements, whilst retaining the quality, reliability and safety standards for which MK Electric is renowned.
The new finishes are a result of extensive customer feedback and research into the forthcoming trends in interior design, as well as investment and development at the company’s UK manufacturing site to improve sustainability, quality and customer choice.
Customers can now choose from 16 standard finishes across the four popular MK decorative wiring device ranges – Aspect (screwless), Edge (flatplate), Alloy (contemporary sharp edge) and Albany Plus (classic rounded edge). The finer details, such as matching metal rockers and black or white inserts, provide design accents required by architects, interior designers and consultants.
In addition to the 1000 standard product variants available, the MK Design Service can customise products with enhanced product functionality, as well as provide colour matching and special finishes to fit within an existing interior design scheme. This service meets an accelerated demand for bespoke wiring devices in hotels, high-end property developments and other creative projects – a trend that is developing in the UK and internationally in regions such as the Middle East.
In order to cater to this trend, MK Electric consulted with AkzoNobel – parent-company of paint brand Dulux – which advised on key colour ranges from its laboratory in Paris. The renowned architect, colour specialist and global design manager of AkzoNovel, Per Nimer, has personally implemented ideas on seasonal colour trends.
After extensive research and development, MK Electric reinvested into its award-winning manufacturing plant in Southend, UK, to provide the capability for the in-house production of the new finishes. The UK plant is where 74% of the company’s products are manufactured, and prides itself on superior manufacturing techniques which result in less than 0.001% product faults.
Jason Ng, marketing communications specialist at MK Electric, says: “Our Voice of Customer research and experience within many global markets tells us that interior designers and architects are basing their wiring devices purchase decisions on form as well as function. The products must have the aesthetic qualities to match the interior design scheme – colour, finish, profile – as well as the functional elements to meet the demands of the users of the space – power, data, controls, grid options etc.
“More and more often, sustainability is a key factor when selecting products, and choosing MK wiring devices which are made here in Britain helps to reduce the carbon footprint – with less transport miles – and reduce harmful waste as we use no solvents or harmful substances.”
