Uniting three of the most highly regarded and exciting brands in the realm of luxury outdoor furniture, Leisure Plan has become a favoured partner in the creation of inspirational hospitality spaces. As the business reaches the 30 year milestone, we explore just what makes Leisure Plan so special …
Inspiring design of a premium quality is, and always has been, at the heart of Leisure Plan’s philosophy. When Chris McCormack founded the company in the 1980s, his ambition – and he had plenty of it – was to work with three core, complementary brands that were at the very top of their game.
Fischer Möbel was the first to come on board, joined seven years later by Dedon and, last but not least, Ego Paris in 2003. Forming a formidable triumvirate, these brands equip Leisure Plan with the ability to deliver high quality, individual solutions for even the most exacting of hospitality environments.
Recognised by its clean lines and subtle elegance, Fischer Möbel’s passion for technical precision, attention to detail and use of the highest grade materials have earnt the company numerous prestigious accolades.
Gracing al fresco dining areas, hotel poolsides and terraces across the globe, Dedon, meanwhile, is considered to be a market leader in contemporary woven furniture. With a compelling backstory, highly impressive eco-credentials, and a talented team of artisans, Dedon is undeniably an international trendsetter.
Ego Paris, too, is setting new boundaries in the outdoor furniture sector. Since setting up the business in 2004, brothers Nicolas, Jean and Yvan Sommereux have created an impressive portfolio of designs, from organic-inspired shapes to highly decorative details and classic curves.
Now boasting a team of 25, Ego Paris offers a dynamic collection of sofas, tables, chairs and loungers, along with a vast colour palette of frame and material combinations – all possessing a dose of that unmistakeable French flair.
With the growing emphasis on stylish al fresco spaces, and indeed the relationship and flow between indoor and outdoor within hospitality settings, Leisure Plan has a strong advantage as the exclusive UK sales and distribution partner to these outstanding brands.
Despite this, the company is not content to merely rest on its laurels, and manufactures cushions in its on-site workshop. Hand-finished, the cushions can be tailored to any desired size, colour or material, epitomising the level of individuality offered by Leisure Plan.
This cushion production facility is just part of an impressive set-up at Leisure Plan’s headquarters in the quaint village of Stansted Mountfitchet in Essex. Housed in a beautiful converted 19th Century chapel, the company’s offices and showroom provide a stunning setting in which to view and enjoy the quality and diversity of furniture available.
The site also benefits from great transport links, located just minutes from the M25/M11 junction, a short drive from Stansted Airport and approximately 30 minutes from London Liverpool Street by train.
Another key attribute of the business, and one that Chris places a great deal of emphasis on, is its service ethos. When an order is placed, Leisure Plan manages the whole delivery process, from its own transport, to unpacking, assembling and removing packaging. The company’s extensive first-class warehouse – located nearby in Bishop’s Stortford – means that almost all products are stocked here in the UK, and Leisure Plan is able to work in a realtime scenario.
As Leisure Plan approaches its 30-year anniversary, the company should quite rightly celebrate its growth and all-round success. A fantastic relationship with three well-respected brands, combined with Chris’ passionate, hands-on approach, has thus far proven to be a winning formula – and may Leisure Plan continue to prosper in 30 years to come.
