Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts and Statoil Masters Tennis joined forces this week to celebrate the impressive line-up of tennis champions set to compete in this year’s tournament at the Royal Albert Hall.
This exclusive event was held in the atrium of the luxurious Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living. Known for its striking and contemporary decor, the atrium was transformed into a 100m² Astroturf court for the evening – former British number one, Andrew Castle, and former world number five, Henri Leconte, taking to the court for a rally or two.
In order to make use of the court following the event, Jumeirah opted to donate it to activeNewham, a local programme that involves residents in sports and volunteering.
“We are extremely proud to have partnered with IMG and the Statoil Masters Tennis at the Royal Albert Hall,” says Derek Picot, vice president of Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts in Europe. “The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate an iconic tournament synonymous with London, from the prestigious surroundings of one of our three London properties, Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living.
“We’re thrilled to be able to contribute to activeNewham’s provision of tennis opportunities through the donation of our tennis court.”
