Conran and Partners has been appointed to create the interior design of a striking new £102.5 million luxury hotel development on the Auckland waterfront in New Zealand.
The design team at Conran and Partners will bring its vision and global expertise in the hospitality sector to the landmark project to create a very special visitor experience.
Multinational hotel group Hyatt has been named as the operator of the new hotel in the city’s regenerated Wynyard Quarter, which is being developed by Chinese property group Fuwah International.
Conran and Partners joins Singapore-based architects AR+D and New Zealand practice Bossley Architects on the design team. The hotel is scheduled for a 2018 opening.
The seven-level 25,000 square metre, 190-plus room hotel will have three restaurants, a spa and fitness centre and a 25m pool.
The development also includes the creation of public space and art in the area around the new hotel, to give people access to the marina and water.
It is the latest in a series of high-profile luxury hotel projects that the Conran and Partners design team has been involved in across the globe.
“We are delighted to be playing a part in delivering what will be a truly special hotel and a new and impressive landmark on the Auckland waterfront,” says project director, Tina Norden. “The site of the hotel is fantastic – right on the edge of one of the world’s finest harbour settings – and our designs will reflect this.”
“Our aim is to give visitors to the hotel an enjoyable and a truly memorable experience with a unique sense of place.”
Conran and Partners, the design and architecture practice founded by Sir Terence Conran, has a growing worldwide reputation for its innovative and distinctive work on iconic hotel projects.
