Hammersmith’s Eventim Apollo has unveiled plans to create a premium space for corporate entertaining, launching with Event Magazine’s prestigious annual Event Awards on October 14th.
The legendary live venue, which has hosted global superstars including David Bowie, Kate Bush and The Rolling Stones, and staged sell-out runs from comedians Michael McIntyre and Billy Connolly, will reveal a new high-tech flooring system later this year, with bookings available from early 2016.
The latest development will include a modular floor, which can be installed overnight to transform the perfect sloping view for watching gigs into a split level flat floor, ideal for seated events for up to 720 people. The venue’s adjustable flooring, which can be moved in and out, will accommodate a diverse range of events, from awards ceremonies and weddings, to cutting-edge product launches and fashion shows.
The announcement comes as Eventim Apollo celebrates two years since its notable revamp in 2013, which saw the venue returned to its 1932 former glory following a multi-million pound refurbishment. As one of the United Kingdom’s biggest and best-preserved Art Deco super cinemas, its beautiful interiors, ornate plasterwork, marble staircases, and meticulous finishes position the venue as a stylish space for corporate events.
The world-renowned venue has also recently installed an in-house PA (public address) system, using the most popular professional audio speaker manufacturers in the world, L-Acoustics, to both provide unparalleled, uniform audio, and reduce the cost for event production. The new system will enable audience members to hold a conversation at the very back of the venue, while still enjoying the music at an enjoyable level.
Eventim Apollo also boasts a state-of-the-art lighting system designed by consultant and specialist, James Morse, known most notably for his work in illuminating historical buildings and preserving their heritage. James is also a multi-award winner, having received accolades from the likes of the Lighting Industry Federation of Great Britain and RIBA, and for Eventim Apollo, has built a system capable of creating a wide range of atmospheres to suit any style of event.
The live performance space, which was shortlisted for Pollstar’s International Venue of the Year award in 2014, is situated in the heart of Hammersmith, boasting excellent travel links, and will act as a cool alternative to the arenas, exhibition centres, and purpose built multiplex venues currently available for corporate bookings.
“The venue resonates with so many different people so we wanted to convert it into a multi-purpose space which was accessible for all kinds of corporate entertaining,” says Heiko Kacimi-Alaoui, deputy general manager, Eventim Apollo. “Our hope is that this exciting new development will ensure that Eventim Apollo continues to serve as a premium live event space for many years to come”.
