Farmstand, a new fast-casual restaurant offering Londoners a delicious range of honest, healthy and reasonably priced food, will open on Drury Lane in Covent Garden on Tuesday 26th January.
The 30-cover restaurant takes its name from the US roadside stalls known as ‘farmstands’ which sell locally grown fresh fruit, vegetables and other produce, and were common in American founder Steven Novick’s hometown.
The ground floor interiors at Farmstand will provide a warm, comfortable and aspirational environment, with natural colours and varied textures throughout.
The original exposed-brick walls are complemented by striking forest green banquette seating ideal for customers looking to enjoy a casual breakfast, lunch or dinner. An eye-catching ‘greenhouse’ stairwell filled with a variety of fresh plants will lead customers down to the lower-ground floor and the busy Farmstand kitchen.
The restaurant will open from breakfast until late seven days a week, serving a menu of internationally-influenced, UK-sourced, nutritionally-balanced ‘Build Your Own’ and ‘Ready To Go’ options, available to takeaway or to eat-in.
Farmstand’s range of Ready To Go seasonal boxes will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast options include ‘Four-grain porridge with organic oat milk’, ‘Coconut yogurt topped with seasonal compote, pumpkin seeds & cinnamon’ and the ‘Farmstand Breakfast Box’, that includes two free range eggs, roasted tomatoes and spinach.
From lunchtime onwards, Ready To Go boxes will contain one main (with beef, chicken, fish and vegetarian options available) alongside two seasonal side dishes (or a choice of three sides if no main).
Alternatively, the Build Your Own selection will be available daily from 12 noon until late, allowing customers to create their own lunch or dinner box combinations, choosing from a selection of four main options, eight side dishes and two extras. The Build Your Own option at Farmstand has 18,432 potential menu combinations.
Drinks will be provided by some of the UK’s most respected ethical drinks brands, including cold-pressed juices by Think Press, coffee byWorkshop and teas from Postcard of Mayfair. From noon onwards, the restaurant will also offer customers a concise list of wines from London-based supplier Enotria, as well as three choices of craft beer from Crate Brewery of Hackney and an organic gluten-free lager fromCelia of Surrey.
Farmstand was founded by American mountaineer, independent film/theatre producer and award-winning international finance professional, Steven Novick. In 2006, Steven was diagnosed with a serious cancer and the prognosis was poor. Before he was given the all clear he set three goals: to become closer to his friends and family, finish climbing the highest peak on each of the seven continents and start a healthy fast-casual food business. Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Steven was raised in a humble household (his Dad worked the night shift in a factory and his mum worked full time in a supermarket) and spent time on his neighbour’s farm. Local food was always championed in those parts, with produce sold from roadside farmstands. Following a successful pop-up hosted at his home exactly one year to the day that Farmstand will open, Steven has gathered together a formidable team with a variety of skills and experience: including a dedicated doctor and nutritionist and chefs whose experience spans Michelin-star dining to international street food.
