Much has happened since Workshop Coffee opened its first site in Clerkenwell in April 2011. Since then the company has launched in three further locations, set up a hugely successful e-commerce business, undergone a branding refinement and recently opened a state-of-the-art new roastery in Bethnal Green.
Determined to continue its ambitious expansion plans, the brand is now delighted to announce that it has completed an equity fundraising of £1.8 million.
Although there will be no real changes in the ownership structure, with founder James Dickson continuing at the helm, the group has undergone a restructuring which in turn has seen the creation of a holding company with investor and entrepreneur Alan Halsall as chairman. Alan, who was behind the growth and eventual sale of iconic nursery brand Silver Cross, will bring a wealth of experience to Workshop Coffee.
“Workshop continues to grow at an exciting rate,” says James Dickson. “This successful raising of additional funds will allow us to focus on what we do best – producing the sweetest, cleanest, freshest and most sustainably-procured coffee possible. At the same time it will ensure we adopt a fully integrated, multi-channel approach to our business.”
