As the second ship in Celebrity Cruises‘ transformational, multi-award-winning Edge Series, the bar was set high for Celebrity Apex. With its extraordinary offering and sleek design, it certainly hasn’t disappointed …
In June of this year, Celebrity Apex sailed out of the Port of Athens to begin her maiden voyage. Her sail-away was made all the more poignant not only by the 15-month delay necessitated by the pandemic, but also by the significance of Celebrity Cruises’ return to its Greek origins.
In the same vein as her game-changing sister ship, Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Apex features an exceptional onboard experience, with innovative outward-facing design masterminded by an exceptional team.
As design ambassador, Nate Berkus brings his distinctive personality to the Edge Series of ships, Kelly Hoppen CBE has returned to work her magic on the interior design, and architect, Tom Wright has led the charge on Celebrity Apex’s outdoor spaces.
“We are elated to welcome Celebrity Apex to our family of magnificent vessels that push the boundaries of what’s possible on a cruise ship,” comments Richard Fain, chairman and CEO, Royal Caribbean Group. “This stunning ship truly represents a new standard in new-luxury travel.”
F&B
Celebrity Apex offers a curated collection of 29 distinctive culinary venues. The Fine Cut Steakhouse offers an upscale dining experience amidst a glamorous dining space, designed in a warm palette of rich ruby, amber and gold design elements. Raw on 5, meanwhile, offers a more casual offering prepared by expert sushi chefs. The interior here employs raw and refined elements, with an abundance of earth tones, pearlescent accents and natural textures.
Another highlight is Eden – a three storey venue that promotes a real sense of connection with the sea. It’s large windows flood the space with shimmering morning light, offering stunning views by day. Along the meandering path, lookout points designed by Patricia Urquiola offer the perfect place to relax.
After reimagining its main dining experience for Celebrity Edge, the offering has been enhanced once again for Celebrity Edge. Four complimentary main restaurants – Normandie, Tuscan, Cosmopolitan, and Cyprus – each offers distinctive interior design and signature dishes. Normandie, for example, evokes the romance of Paris in springtime with its contemporary French cuisine and elegant cherry blossom-themed palette.
A brand new bar concept, Craft Social, offers over 40 handcrafted boutique beer selections, creative cocktails and a wide selection of a la carte, gourmet comfort food and bar bites.
The Magic Carpet
This cantilevered, floating platform reaches heights of 13 stories above sea level. Positioned on the starboard sie of the ship, it offers one of the best places to take in the marvellous views from the water’s edge. Designed with comfortable seating, a full bar, and space for live music performances, it is a destination in itself.
Accommodation
Celebrity Apex’s impressive accommodation blurs the boundaries of indoor and outdoor living, with open-air access to the sea 24-7. It incorporates larger living areas, bigger bathrooms, the latest in-room technology and, unusually, king-sized beds in 99% of the rooms.
Celebrity Apex offers the widest range of staterooms in Celebrity Cruises’ fleet, ranging from Single Staterooms to the Iconic Suite. Indeed, there are 178 possible option for connecting staterooms, affording guests the flexibility to accommodate groups.
Kelly Hoppen CBE conceived the design for the staterooms and suites, and has created an inviting, and indulgent offering that mirrors the style of a luxury home.
With their high vantage point at the top of the ship, above the bridge, the new Iconic Suites offer panoramic views from front to back. Each suite is an opulent 1,892 square feet, not including the outdoor space of more than 689 square feet with its private hot tub and stylish furnishings.
The six, two-storey Edge Villas are the second new suite category. Each offers 950 square feet of split-level splendor, plus one bedroom and two bathrooms.
The Retreat
Exclusively designated to suite guests, The Retreat offers a private sanctuary complete with luxurious accommodation, an elegant private restaurant, inviting lounge and sundeck. Kelly Hoppen has masterminded the design concept here, applying her penchant for clean lines and neutral tones, to create facilities that would rival any high-end resort.
