Themed restaurants are currently experiencing a surge in demand, with some revealing increases in bookings of around 800%. Online reservation app Quandoo also revealed that those performing particularly well include Caribbean, Thai and Mongolian food.
Just recently, specialist contract furniture company Valdivian Furniture was asked to work on a new Caribbean themed bar concept for a client. Their design brief for the project was to transform the space into a Caribbean themed bar that reflected the ‘laid back’ island attitude, but with a stylish edge.
“It was unanimous right from the beginning that Huntes Gardens would be the team’s project anchor. With its tropical appearance and beautifully tranquil persona, it worked so well as a muse for the overall scheme.
“The garden boasts a slogan ‘The most enchanting place on earth’ and it truly lives up to that label,” explains Liam O’Donnell, Director of Valdivian Furniture.
The company’s in house CAD artist integrated a number of aspects into the final design stage, bringing in the mixture of bright colours, tropical printed fabrics, rustic planked woods and various exotic plants from their mood board.
They also wanted to incorporate what they would call ‘authentic’ Caribbean styling, which was inspired by real locations in the Caribbean that the team had visited previously.
“Creating bar furniture which not only meets the design brief but is also functional can often be a challenge, however in this case, the result was a wonderfully vibrant, warm and welcoming atmosphere combined with stylish, practical furniture which was not only fit for purpose, but was completely aligned with the look and feel of the bar,” adds Mr O’Donnell.
