With aesthetic products such as the GX-450 and XL-GC Series glass door hardware, Sugatsune has always offered design-led, integrated solutions for display cabinets. However, the company has received a number of enquiries as to whether these highly-evolved pieces of engineering could be used for shower enclosures. Despite both applications requiring glass hardware solutions, the answer is not quite as straightforward as originally thought.
The demands placed upon wetroom hardware differ significantly from more modestly-sized display cases, whilst the engineering principles often remain the same. In addition, bathroom interiors are now high-concept design statements. As such, Sugatsune has been very careful to provide hardware with the ability to meet the stringent practical requirements, as well as achieving the desired look.
Minimalist design with its expanses of uncluttered surface puts a particular focus on texture and detail where it occurs. Accents such as hinges and handles accentuate the simplicity of the forms they adorn. Sugatsune’s products never descend into bling, always retaining the simplicity and elegance of their Japanese design roots.
To frame this direction, Sugatsune has produced a new Glass Hardware catalogue, which highlights a comprehensive range of glass cabinet hinges, handles, locks and catches for conventional and sliding doors. The new introductions give designers a series of shower screen hinges in sharp or radiused rectilinear forms, with a choice of finishes including bright and matte chrome, stainless steel, polished brass and lacquered white.
The new glass fittings from Sugatsune are an ideal complement to an already highly-regarded group of products. They complete the Sugatsune range, which is now available to view in one comprehensive catalogue.
