At home in the shipyards of 1930s’ London, Davey mast lights were designed to shine light down a ship’s mast to illuminate ropes and sails. Today, the mast light provides a discreet downward lighting source for interiors and exteriors. Ideal for use on brickwork and feature walls – as well as in long hallways, stairways, bathrooms and galley kitchens – the mast light drops a concentrated pool of light where it is most needed.
While mast lights were traditionally cast in bronze, Davey Lighting‘s collection includes a choice of metals in a myriad of finishes to suit all architectural styles. Hand cast at Davey Lighting’s Birmingham-based metal works, the lights are available in polished, sandblasted or anodised aluminium, as well as in traditional bronze – which can be sandblasted, weathered or polished.
The classic, low-voltage light is now available in LED format for ease of installation and use. Updated to work with a long-lasting, warm tone mains voltage bulb, the LED version – which is slightly larger than the original – can be wired straight onto the wall without the need for a transformer box.
