Global manufacturer of luxury marine fabrics, Extex, has launched Solar – a pioneering glow-in-the-dark fabric which dresses decks to striking effect. Designed and manufactured in the UK for the superyacht, this artfully hand-printed fabric offers a sophisticated tone-on-tone pattern by day, before tansforming in all its luminescence by night.
Solar is inspired by the ethereal quality of galaxies and constellations, and features a swirling helix pattern available in three light colour options – sandy-hued Mars, the icy grey tones of Neptune, and the creamy shades of Venus.
The printing ink used for this fabric collection is a photo-luminescent pigment that features a new type of long after-glow. The pigment absorbs and stores solar energy, and can glow in the dark for several hours after just 5-30 minutes of exposure to natural sunlight or the lights on deck.
As with all Extex fabrics, Solar offers high levels of resistance to water, stains, chlorine and saline, and is light fast, pre-shrunk and machine washable – an eminently suitable fabric choice for luxurious superyachts, season after season.
