Ireland’s only two-star Michelin dining venue, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud at the five-star Merrion Hotel in Dublin, has been equipped with a striking contemporary bespoke axminster carpet from Wilton Carpets Commercial.
Approximately 221m² of the 10-row quality woven axminster has been fitted throughout the dining area and stairwell, providing the venue with a dynamic design that flows through the space in a bold and distinctive purple, red, gold and taupe colourway.
The result is a carpet that lends a striking ambiance to one of Ireland’s finest culinary venues. A faithful reproduction of designer Stephen Harper’s original creation, the carpet juxtaposes with an eclectic collection of art from some of Ireland’s most celebrated artists.
Specified by For Floors Limited, Wilton Carpets Commercial was chosen to manufacture the carpet based on its track record of quality, service and expertise, as Sean McBride, MD at For Floors Limited, explains: “Our excellent working relationship with Wilton Carpets’ representative in Ireland made the manufacturer a natural partner for such a high-end installation.
“Working to an existing design, the team’s attention to colour clarity and accuracy has produced a stunning carpet for one of our most prestigious projects to date, and a great team effort ensured a smooth and trouble-free installation from start to finish.”
Merrion Hotel’s Georgian period interior has undergone extensive and intensive restoration using traditional techniques, and has been cited as one of the most successful developments in Dublin of recent years.
The bespoke axminster carpet was woven by Wilton Carpets Commercial at its UK Wiltshire production facility in a performance blend of 80% wool 20% nylon.
