Oaka at The Mansion House is a new pub and dining room located in the heart of Kennington, London that will offer an inimitable combination of seasonal Pan-Asian cuisine and hand-crafted real ales from acclaimed Peterborough-based brewery Oakham Ales.
Oakham’s award-winning brews JHB, Citra, Inferno and Bishop’s Farewell, will be available on tap alongside freshly prepared dishes from Thailand, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos and China.
Created by head chef Siam Pukaokeaw, Oaka’s menu will offer a comprehensive selection of Gap Glam. Literally translated as ‘beer food’, these small plates are ideal as a starter or to share with friends.
The Mansion House, a much-loved former pub on Kennington Park Road, has been totally refurbished, with great care taken to preserve the building’s many original features.
Aside from the large restaurant area and bar, Oaka at The Mansion House will also feature a spacious outside terrace, perfect for alfresco dining in warmer months.
Oaka is also using the pioneering GeoBAR Heat Recovery System in its cellar, designed to save around seven tonnes of carbon a year.
Paul Hook and Patcharee Shaweewan formed the Oaka Group in 2008. However, it was back in 1998 that they first made what was then a very unusual decision to combine the qualities of real ales and Thai food. They kept to this founding principle in each of their venues, making this niche market very much their own and gaining legions of fans along the way.
The company now operates pubs and restaurants throughout Peterborough and Birmingham. The launch of Oaka at The Mansion House, designed to be the first in a new collection, will give London its first taste of an exceptional pairing.
