Following a three year renovation period, the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group has announced the re-opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait.
The significance of this renovation goes beyond its scale, and the considerable monetary investment Carlson”Rezidor has made in the project, but has greater resonance due to the history of the building.
“The re-opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel Kuwait signifies the launch of a new chapter of history for the property, which opened in 1980 with my predecessor, Kurt Ritter, as general manager,” explains Wolfgang M. Neumann, president and CEO of The Rezidor Hotel Group.
“From this property, Kurt grew the Radisson”Blu brand across the Middle East, Europe and Africa, and made Rezidor the internationally successful company that it is today, with a remaining passion for business development in the Middle East.”
Now transformed both structurally and decoratively, the hotel offers a luxurious and artfully modernised interior, with the addition of its Sky Lounge – a glass-encased rooftop facility with panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf, exclusively reserved for business class and suite guests.
Offering refreshments both inside and on the outside terrace, the Sky Lounge also features business facilities, including computer workstations and complementary reading material.
191 guest rooms – including six junior suites, 16 executive suites, one admiral suite, and one presidential suite – offer Radisson Blu’s high-end in-room facilities. A choice of three decors is available to guests: Naturally Cool, a modern design comprising a soft blue and neutral colour palette; And Relax, a calming and soothing environment using carved wooden accents; and NY”Mansion House, based on a traditional but sophisticated uptown mansion house.
The presidential suite, too, has been extended and upgraded. Now with an additional 55m² of space, floor-to-ceiling windows have been installed in both the living room and bedroom to allow guests to enjoy the picturesque ocean views.
The hotel’s restaurant offering has also been enhanced. Its Eedam Café & Gourmet Shop now offers a comfortable seating area, while the Peacock Restaurant – serving authentic Asian cuisine – has been refurbished in a stylish blend of wood, glass and cloth.
Lastly, the 360m² Dasman Ballroom has been created for events and meetings. Able to accommodate 200 persons at capacity, the space is fully equipped with modern audio-visual and communications equipment, three adjacent meeting rooms, and a pre-function area, as well as separate lobby entrance for car access.
