Located in the heart of Westbourne – a bustling neighbourhood located a mile from Bournemouth – The Libertine is a carefully-designed pub with a distinctive aesthetic. Concorde BGW worked closely in collaboration with the client, Revere Pub Company, to create its new premium dining concept.
Comprising a bar, restaurant and an industrial-style outside dining area known as The Forge, The Libertine offers a comfortable, warm space with a touch of luxury created by sumptuous velvets, rich colours, mirrors, crackle glaze tiles and rich timbers.
Concorde BGW provided its Concorde Complete service for the project, taking charge of all project management, design, build, interiors and marketing materials.
“We worked closely with the Revere team at every stage, to ensure that what we were designing fulfilled the brief and mirrored the branding to ensure a complete product,” explains Toni Martin, senior designer.
“This was the first site for the new concept, so managing client expectations and requirements was a learning curve. This was worked through by forming good relationships with the Revere team and new suppliers.”
Toni explains how the new design was integrated into the existing scheme: “The layout in the main was as existing, however we remodelled areas to incorporate feature wine cellar and a new bar kitchen.
“We also formed a new exciting feature Forge area within a disused garage area to the rear, incorporating an old forge fireplace. We created intimate areas with interesting bookcases and open shelving, and created a private dining area with a glazed ship’s cabin-style screen.”
The end result is a luxurious local that brings something to the local community, while alluring visitors from further afield. “This is a more premium site, set aside from the norm, offering a more interesting experience,” Toni enthuses. “It’s just as we wanted it to be, and a true representation of the detail and hard work that went into it for everyone involved.”
