Atlantica Hotel Management has rebranded as Wavemaker Hospitality, marking a new era for the company’s journey and representing significant growth and development for the group.
With a collection of over 50 hotels across Greece and Cyprus, the group has invested into a complete rebrand, introducing the new umbrella brand name, Wavemaker Hospitality, as a dynamic house of brands in exceptional Mediterranean destinations. The soul and inception of the group will continue as one of these sub-brands, Atlantica Hotels & Resorts, alongside the existing Aphrodite Hills Resort, an integrated five-star resort with the first and only 18-hole PGA accredited golf course in Cyprus. This year, Wavemaker Hospitality will launch two new brands, Mare Resorts and Amoh Rhodes, a Luxury Collection Resort, followed by an upcoming brand, Aphi Resorts which will be introduced in 2026.
Mare Resorts
Launching next month, Mare Resorts comprises two and rebranded properties in Cyprus – Mare Paphos, opening 19th March, and Mare Ayia Napa, opening 28th March. Committed to offering exceptional guest experiences with a blend of modern design and Mediterranean charm, Mare Resorts is poised to redefine the upscale experience in Cyprus through a community minded, village-like hospitality concept. Through innovative design, contemporary amenities and a dedication to guest satisfaction, both properties embody the brand’s commitment to creating unique and memorable experiences. Whether guests are seeking relaxation, adventure or cultural enrichment, Mare Resorts caters to all. For kids, the clubs offer educational workshops including Cypriot clay-making and DJ’ing sessions, and adults can enjoy exquisite spa treatments and sunset cocktails.
Amoh Rhodes
Set on a secluded peninsula on the Greek island of Rhodes, Amoh Rhodes opens on 15th July 2025 and comprises 197 rooms and suites, four restaurants, two bars, a patisserie and a 700m2spa. The luxury property pays tribute to the island’s history of craftmanship, incorporating local stone and warm, earthy colours into their design. Part of The Luxury Collection by Marriott, Amoh Rhodes is committed to crafting original experiences for guests, including ceramic workshops with Rhodian artists, guided excursions to local landmarks, including nearby Lindos Acropolis, and intimate dinners in private coves.
The rebrand to Wavemaker Hospitality follows a pause during the Covid-19 pandemic, which gave brothers and joint CEOs Dimitris and Vasilis Nicolaides the opportunity to review the brand’s journey, realigning the strategy and rethinking what hospitality means today.
CEO Dimitris Nicolaides commented: “We detected new booking patterns and needs, observing that today’s hotel guests seek to explore local heritage and culture, form meaningful relationships, belong to a community and create memorable experiences. In order to evolve, we realised that our hotels need to align with these requirements, so following many long conversations, we crystalised our future strategy to shape a new generation of Mediterranean hospitality.’’
He continued: “We will strive to always invest in innovation and the people who make it all possible. Digitalisation, sustainability and infrastructure enhancement are all key to success in this new phase of our business.”
Wavemaker Hospitality was launched by Nikolis Nicolaides in 1980. A passion and vision to grow, the business led sons Dimitris and Vasilis to join their father in 1992, and both are still in their roles as joint CEOs. Over 45 years, the brand has expanded across Greece and Cyprus, acquiring many of the region’s most sought-after properties, which are now consolidated alongside pipeline openings into the distinct hospitality brands.
Now, with the company rebrand, Wavemaker Hospitality represents a progressive hospitality group with a promise to make waves in the industry through people, places and purpose.
