Authentic Napoletana pizzeria, Quartieri, is to open in Kilburn this Spring.
The pizzaioli Napoletani will be using flour and grain that has been milled in the traditional way, slow risen with minimal yeast creating truly authentic pizza from its homeland.
The menu will be divided into four sections; antipasti, la storia (the classics), la innovazioni (Quartieri specials) and of course dolce.
Inspired by the energy of the city, the design and feel of Quartieri will be warm and vibrant.
With a palate of cooling blues, berry reds, jewel green and brushed brass, the space will make use of geometric shapes, creating a contemporary take on 1960s Naples.
In keeping with Quartieri’s ethos, the materials used will be largely organic or in their natural form, with bricks, concrete and wood as the backbones of the space.
At the heart of the restaurant will be the flash flame pizza oven, handmade and in keeping with Ernesto Agliarulo, the 5th generation pizza oven maker from Naples considered the best in his field, which is made specifically to keep the perfect temperature to give the pizzas an overall and even bake from top to bottom.
The space will be divided into four quarters, representative of Naples itself. A live foliage wall containing potted herbs is reminiscent of the plush vegetation seen in ‘Broccoli Hill’ Vomero, while ‘iron and lave stone’ will adorn another, representative of the industrial area.
Varying shades of blue from Mergellina will fill the third, with the final quarter exhibiting exposed brick walls, tiled floor and colourful wall design evocative of the organised chaos seen in the ‘centro storico’ Old Town of Naples.
The music will be curated by Samantha Michelle and Iraina Mancini, known as the Smoking Guns spinning northern soul, funk, 60s rhythm and blues, ska and old school rock-n-roll.
