Balfour Beatty has secured a £121m contract to design and build an 18-storey, 452-room hotel, leisure and apartment complex on North Greenwich Peninsula for Grove Developments.
As well as the creation of 100 serviced apartments and impressive leisure and conference facilities, the contract will also entail hard and soft landscaping works to create VIP access to the neighbouring concert venues.
Crucially, the hotel will be designed to accommodate the BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, with the addition of photovoltaic panels, and rainwater harvesting.
“We are delighted to see that our customers are eager to embrace sustainable best practice to develop a scheme that will help promote UK trade and investment,” says Balfour Beatty chief executive Andrew McNaughton, “we welcome the opportunity to apply the sustainable construction methods we have been developing as part of our complex building offering.”
Work will begin this summer and is due for completion in summer 2015.
