From the updated culinary offering, to a brand-new forest spa and the local African interiors, guests of Bwindi Lodge can expect to truly immerse themselves in the local Ugandan culture, inviting the feel of the spectacular forest surrounds to the indoors.
The extensive refurbishment features redesigned guest rooms, lounge and dining area, as well as a dramatic outdoor terrace. Plans are in place for a Forrest spa to open in April 2018.
The refurbished guest lounge and dining area invites the feel of the forest to the indoors. The guest lounge features a large central fireplace with relaxed seating areas, encouraging guests to unwind after a busy day of exploring.
The refurbished dining room welcomes forest views through the window, and as day transitions into evening, the space becomes a warm, cosy setting for dinner.
Renovated in-room interiors comprise plush, neutral linens to complement the bright forest surrounds. Inviting four-poster beds are teamed with locally inspired in-room furniture, to reflect the local Ugandan culture of the lodge’s destination. Each room also features enchanting, private views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
The extension of the outdoor terrace allows dramatic views of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forrest. Guests can relax on the spacious terrace while sipping an evening cocktail and feasting on a traditional Ugandan BBQ.
Bwindi’s culinary offerings have also received a refresh; the new look menu a creative blend of the culinary highlights of Ugandan and European dishes. Each dish is prepared using freshly grown, local ingredients including the traditional Luwombo chicken wrapped in banana leaves.
Modelled on a Jamaican style rum shack, the neighbouring Bwindi Bar – staffed by disadvantaged youths living near to the Bwindi National Park – will also provide a hip hangout for guests to enjoy an array of international and local fare including local tapas and the unique ‘do-it-yourself, rolex wrap’.
From April 2018, guests can unwind in the Forrest Spa Humula mw’ Ishamba, and enjoy a massage surrounded by the sounds of the forest.
Couples after a romantic retreat can experience twin massages in the serene treatment room, overlooking the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The lodge gardens provide lemongrass, tea, eucalyptus and other aromatic plants for the treatments based on forest rituals.
