The Stafford London has appointed NYC interior design company, Champalimaud Design, to oversee the renovation of the property’s historic Carriage House Suites. Set to be completed in Spring 2017, the project will include a transformation of the current split level Guv’nor’s Suite into a stylish newly enhanced space, measuring 151 square metres.
The award-winning design team, led by internationally renowned designer, Alexandra Champalimaud, has envisioned an eclectic take on the hotel’s British heritage, with designs that offer a contemporary twist on traditional English furnishings.
The upcoming changes promise to impart an understated opulence to the Carriage House that befits the building’s status as a Grade II listed property. In keeping with its equestrian past, the ground floor rooms and suites will retain their stable doors.
Champalimaud will also be creating a two bedroom, multi-level townhouse suite that is bookable as a one bedroom junior suite, a two-storey suite (with dining area) or as the full three-level townhouse. This private retreat in the middle of London will have its own design scheme and will offer all the amenities of home.
“This is a landmark renovation project for The Stafford and we are excited to be working with Champalimaud, to upgrade the look and feel of our historic carriage house accommodation,” says Stuart Procter, GM of The Stafford London. “The designs that Alexandra and her team have proposed, are a timeless mix of modern British quirkiness and classic English style augmented with a colourful twist, as befits our hotel.”
