The Big Mamma Group has opened its second London trattoria – Circolo Popolare.
Situated in the heart of bustling Fitzrovia, the 280-seat restaurant offers a sunny Sicily-style interior with an emphasis on sharing.
The restaurant’s striking interiors were conceived by Studio Kiki, who have recreated the “warm ambience of typical Sicilian weddings” in its design.
Two rooms are united under a ceiling clad in salvaged wooden beams, summer wisteria and strings of festoon lights. The first space has a blend of long communal tables for 12, as well as white-washed Mediterranean booths for more intimate soire?es.
20,000 bottles of vintage spirits and wines line the walls in a dramatic fashion, while an old collection of vintage plates, pictures and 200m of coloured Italian glass bring warmth and visual interest.
In the second room, an open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs at work, while the sweet scents of Italian garden basil and lavender waft through from the outdoor terrace.
