Down Hall Country House Hotel, located in Hatfield Heath, near Bishop’s Stortford, has invested £1.5m in a major refurbishment of 71 bedrooms and the hotel’s kitchen, as well as the installation of a well-equipped gymnasium. Bedrooms in the West Wing have been freshly redecorated using heritage country colours, the kitchen has been completely refitted with the latest catering equipment – costing £200,000 – and the new gymnasium is equipped with innovative exercise machines from Technogym, a leading producer of fitness and wellness equipment. The refurbishment will be completed by the beginning of February.
“Down Hall Hotel is one of area’s leading hotels, and this refurbishment further enhances its ability to attract both leisure and business guests, which we believe will help increase tourism to the region,” says Anna Snoep, director of sales and ,arketing at Down Hall Hotel. “We have refreshed and restyled bedrooms, our restaurant – which is available for bookings to non-residents – is serving the finest cuisine, and our new gym is a significant addition to the recreational facilities we offer.”
The guest room designs are inspired by a theme described as ‘classic country house meets contemporary lifestyle’. The interior designer has retained the hotel’s original heritage, charm and character, within a fresh contemporary style. To achieve this, the rooms have had certain existing furniture restored and enhanced, with new soft furnishings and a mix of colour, pattern and texture bringing a modern feel to the rooms.
