Go-to travel directory, TripAdvisor, has revealed its ‘Travellers Choice Awards – Best of 2016’, as determined by traveller reviews – revealing Edgar House in Chester, UK as the best small hotel in the world.
The charming seven-room property ranked number one in the global small hotels category for hotels with up to 30 rooms. The winners were chosen based on traveller reviews and ratings from the TripAdvisor site, with some of the Edgar House reviews simply describing the venue as ‘perfect’.
Co-owner Tim Mills says this about Edgar House’s win: “We’re lost for words, and are having to pinch ourselves. It’s an incredible honour to be named the Number 1 small hotel in the world, and it’s hard to explain how thrilled and humbled we are.
“Winning awards isn’t something we think about – we’re here to make our hotel and restaurant guests feel special and spoilt, so being recognised globally like this means an enormous amount to us.
“The teams at Edgar House and new restaurant Twenty2 are amazing and work incredibly hard: we couldn’t be here without them. We’re very lucky to find passionate people who care about the guests as much as we do.
“We send out a big, big heart-felt thank you to the team, and of course to all of the guests who have supported us since we opened in 2013, without whom this award wouldn’t be possible.”
