Elysium Hotel announces extensive renovation

Elysium Hotel, the five-star ‘grand dame’ of Cyprus, has announced an extensive renovation across its luxury rooms and suites. After a succession of record-breaking years for Stademos Hotels, the company is reinvesting a staggering ten million euros into the Elysium, located by the ancient Tombs of the Kings in Paphos. This significant investment will ensure the much-loved hotel continues to cater to the demands of today’s affluent traveller, while retaining its unique Mediterranean-inspired architecture. Curated by local architect Mr. Eraklis Papachristou, the 48 new suites are set to be complete by spring 2025.

Renowned for his distinctive and innovative designs, Papachristou will infuse the new suites with a modern Mediterranean aesthetic, characterised by clean lines, natural surfaces and earthy tones. Interiors will combine natural oak wood, beamed ceilings, local Limassol stone, Greek Terrazzo Ionian Beige marble and Travertine limestone to create a minimalist yet elegant atmosphere. Forming an al fresco haven for guests, exterior designs include cement walls plastered in terracotta, marble flooring and built-in seating that frames private pools. Additionally, all of Elysium’s common areas will showcase a diverse range of local plant species, further enhancing the connection to the surrounding natural landscape.

Providing a Cypriot home away from home, the Family Duplex Suite features a galleried mezzanine bedroom and cosy living area, whilst the Garden Villa Suite has an abundance of natural light and boasts a private patio garden with plunge pool. The 12 adults-only Studio Suites are set in the hotel’s colonnaded megaron, offering a sumptuous Queen-sized bed and vanity area, large double-shower and private terraces for sunbathing and stargazing. What’s more, guests booking the Studio Suites are afforded access to the hotel’s adults-only swimming pool, set aside from the main building in a sunken sun kissed courtyard to provide endless hours of relaxation.

A melting pot of the Mediterranean, Elysium is a five-star haven that exudes a sense of cultural and historical significance, nestled within lush, landscaped gardens. With three pools, the expansive Opium Health Spa, five gourmet restaurants spanning Italian, Pan-Asian and Cypriot cuisines, and outdoor tennis courts, the resort offers the perfect blend of relaxation and recreation. The renovation marks an exciting new chapter for the Elysium, further positioning it as one of the island’s leading luxury offerings for travellers wanting to experience all Cyprus has to offer in 2025 and beyond.
