Hospitality Action has appointed Ian Sarson, MD at Compass Group UK and Ireland, as a trustee.
Ian has worked in hospitality for his entire career and has held a variety of senior positions in the industry. Prior to joining Compass in January 2004, he had a four-year spell in Hong Kong and China as MD of Sodexo.
Ian says: “I’m honoured to be representing Hospitality Action. The work that it does in terms of raising awareness of key issues and providing vital support to those in our industry facing hardship through illness, bereavement, poverty or addiction, is invaluable.”
Recently, Dick Turpin stepped down from the board of trustees. He has been a trustee of the charity since 2000 and was also chair of The Ark Foundation. Under Dick Turpin’s guidance, the charity has grown considerably, with changes in the demographic of Hospitality Action beneficiaries and an increase in the number of supporters and colleges that receive seminars about drugs and alcohol.
Penny Moore, chief executive of Hospitality Action, comments: “We are thrilled to have Ian as a new trustee – his appointment will be a real asset to the charity. At the same time, we are incredibly grateful to Dick Turpin for all he has helped us achieve in his role.”
