Lake Como’s award-winning Hotel Villa d’Este has acquired adjacent treasured real estate – Villa Belinzaghi. Villa Belinzaghi was built on the banks of Lake Como in 1864 by Milanese banker, Count Giulio Belinzaghi, the former mayor of Cernobbio who later became mayor of Milan. It was Count Belinzaghi himself, together with other nobles from Lombardy, who transformed Villa d’Este into a Hotel in 1873.
“Villa Belinzaghi has returned home,” comments Mr. Davide Bertilaccio, Villa d’Este’s newly appointed CEO. “We are extremely proud of this re-acquisition. Preserving our history and keeping our eyes on the future.”
The majestic three-story Villa includes over 26,000 square feet of function space, and an expansive multi-acre park with panoramic views. It also features a greenhouse, a dock, and a pier. It will undergo a complete restoration to return the Villa to its ancient splendor. Once the project is finalised, it will take in the region of 24 months to complete.
“The acquisition represents a cornerstone of our investment strategy,” says Villa d’Este President, Dr. Giuseppe Fontana. “We will have another spectacular location to host private events such as weddings and celebrations while offering the ultimate privacy.”
