InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the completion of a US $22.25 million renovation of the iconic, Morris Lapidus-designed InterContinental San Juan. IHG is one of Puerto Rico’s pioneering international hotel companies, and first had a presence on the island in 1960.
The hotel’s improvements will provide a quality guest experience and setting for business and leisure travellers. The 398 luxurious guest rooms reflect a harmonious combination of beige and blue tones, symbolising sand and sea. The decorative accents and wood details evoke the emblematic colours and architectural characteristics of Old San Juan. The public space areas provide a warm and modern ambiance, and all meeting rooms now feature the latest digital signage with sleek design and sophistication.
“Few properties in the region offer the combination of an ocean-front location coupled with the business amenities featured at the InterContinental San Juan,” says Alvaro Diago, COO, Latin America and Caribbean at IHG. “There is no doubt that this one-of-a-kind property will continue to define hospitality on the island of Puerto Rico and remain a key asset in the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts portfolio.”
IHG has nearly 200 hotels in Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean, and has been serving Latin America for 65 years.
