InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, announces that it now has over 100 hotels that have been signed or opened in Germany, one of the company’s ten global key markets. Holiday Inn Express Munich City – West, opening this month, has been unveiled as the hotel that helped IHG hit this milestone.
There are now 65 hotels open in Germany and 35 further properties in the pipeline due to open in the next three to five years. This achievement illustrates the strength of IHG’s leading portfolio of brands, loved by millions of guests around the world.
Holiday Inn Express Munich City – West will be Germany’s largest Holiday Inn Express, the second largest in Europe and the first Holiday Inn Express in Germany to have the ‘Next Generation’ design.
The property, owned by long-standing partners UBM Development AG (UBM) and managed by Union Investment, has 302 rooms. Modelled entirely on guest insight, Holiday Inn Express Next Generation is an innovation developed to meet the changing needs of today’s modern day traveller who is looking for a simple, smart and hassle free travel experience.
The public areas and guest rooms are technology and design led spaces and innovations geared around giving guests on the go the flexibility to work and relax.
IHG’s success in Germany is based on its well-established strategy of working with Multiple Development Agreement (MDA) partners, such as UBM. Germany is one of the world’s top inbound travel destination in 2016, and domestic travellers are increasingly choosing to stay at midscale brands, fuelling demand for Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, an engine of growth for IHG.
“Reaching 100 hotels open or signed in Germany is an important milestone for IHG,” says Angela Brav, CEO, Europe, IHG. “This has been a great year for growth for IHG across Europe, and we’ve seen particular success in Germany, one of our key markets.
“This is testament to the strength of our brands, great partners and a great team. We are particularly proud to be bringing our Holiday Inn Express Next Generation design to Germany. It has revolutionised the design of our public spaces and guest rooms meaning we’re able to offer our guests more where it matters. We’re looking forward to rolling out more Next Generation hotels across Germany and the rest of Europe.”
