Chicago’s famed Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago is about to receive a ground floor facelift courtesy of award-winning design firm Indidesign.
Famed for its Prohibition era origins, hosting celebrity guests throughout the 20th century (including the Rolling Stones in the 1960s), and its reputation as the first Playboy mansion in the 1970s, the landmark property will soon feature a refreshed lobby, lounge and restaurant design that brings its Roaring ’20s history into modern-day Chicago.
The history of the property is to be central to the design narrative, and Indidesign co-founder and design director, Beatrice Girelli, drew inspiration from flapper era fashion and jewelry, incorporating the elegant lines and motifs of the 20’s and 30’s in the design of all three spaces.
Guests will be welcomed at the entrance by a custom chandelier, restored finishes from the original 1920’s structure, and a contemporary restaurant, Indidesign’s fresh renovation will merge the hotel’s Prohibition era past with a modern, boutique atmosphere.
