Michelin-starred chef and restaurateur, Jason Atherton – in partnership with Restaurant Associates – will unveil City Social this May. Situated within London’s iconic skyscraper, Tower 42, the 90-cover venue will feature art deco-style interiors created by award-winning designer, Russell Sage Studios, and will offer awe-inspiring views of the city.
Jason says: “I’m really excited to be working with Restaurant Associates and to be opening City Social within Tower 42. You will walk into my restaurant from the lifts and immediately see the Gherkin, The Cheesegrater, and all those iconic buildings that have shot up in London over the past decade, right in front of your eyes. The restaurant will serve beautiful cuisine in a glamorous environment.”
The venue’s interior will be elegant with fine, simple finishes. Accents of brass and mirror will sit alongside rosewood-panelled boards, chrome and smoked glass. A free-standing, dramatic black and steel open kitchen in the centre of the dining room will form the focal point of the space. Here, guests will be able to dine at the chef’s table while watching the kitchen team at work.
The City Social bar will seat 85 people and, in keeping with the design, will serve a selection of cocktails inspired by 1910-1930s prohibition era.
Since the launch of Michelin-starred Pollen Street Social, Jason Atherton has launched a series of restaurants across the world to critical acclaim. His portfolio of four London restaurants includes Michelin-starred Social Eating House, Little Social and the recently-opened Berners Tavern within The London Edition hotel.
Andy Harris, MD at Restaurant Associates, says: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with Jason Atherton at Tower 42. We’ve worked closely with the Tower for many years and the launch of City Social is the perfect next step for this partnership. The magnificent views that this London landmark has to offer, combined with Jason’s international culinary experience is sure to delight diners. The opening marks an exciting time for the City of London and its thriving food scene, and I can’t wait to welcome people to City Social.”
