The Ocean Club, a Luxury Collection Resort will open in March 2021, in the popular tourist destination of Sosúa, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic.
The Ocean Club joins the exclusive collection of luxury hotels within the Marriott International Hotels Distinctive Luxury portfolio. The opening of the luxury resort will not only upgrade the hotelier offering in the region but also strengthen the country’s economy with the help of the new jobs.
The resort will consist of 68 modern apartments with an elegant, Caribbean-inspired design. The one to three-room apartments and four-bedroom penthouses all have beach and ocean views, and generous, private indoor and outdoor areas. These properties can also be rented for a longer-term stay or bought as a second home in the Dominican Republic.
The opening of the resort is accompanied by two sustainability projects in order to strengthen ecological development in the region. In collaboration with the non-profit organisation, Global Coralition, an underwater museum is to be built off the coast in the coming years. This should not only serve as a new attraction for tourists and divers, but also create a marine habitat for sea creatures and corals. The “Reef Project” with the Maguá Ecological Foundation will also be implemented, which aims to increase the biological diversity of the area through the development of ecosystems such as coral reefs and mangroves.
