The KVAN x BERTHIER studio announces the death of its co-founder Marc Berthier this Thursday 3 November.
An emblematic figure of French design, the 87-year-old designer, born in 1935, embarked on a new artistic adventure last January with Mikaela Kvan, a young Danish-American urban planner. Together they created the KxB design laboratory, both driven by the same approach to the world and the same “functional poetics”. Despite being conscious of his age, this is very sudden for Mikaela Kvan. “I am deeply saddened. Marc was my mentor, as he has been for many generations. We have built so much together and I will always be grateful to him. By continuing the work that Marc Berthier started at the KxB studio, we are committed to keeping alive the singular vision of the world and art that the artist carried. Despite the sadness of his passing, it is certain that his impact on the design world will never be forgotten and his legacy will live on and continue to inspire the future generations.
A tribute will be paid at the ENSCI in Paris (École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle). The exact date will be communicated soon.
