Meliá Hotels International has announced the signing of two new hotels in the growing political and business hub of Zhengzhou, China. Innside by Meliá will open in June 2015, while Meliá Zhengzhou will be launched in January 2016.
The hotels sit in a complex of three buildings – one for the Innside property and the other two devoted to the Meliá hotel – split into areas for regular- and long-term stays. Together, they will bring 933 rooms and MICE facilities, including a grand ballroom for over 900 people and other multi-functional meeting rooms, ideal for wedding ceremonies and business meetings.
The announcement reflects the company’s expansion focus in China, which is due to open a number of other properties in China, including Gran Meliá Xian and Meliá Jinan in 2014, and the Meliá Tian Jin and Meliá Chongqin in 2015 and 2016 respectively. The group has more than doubled its portfolio in the Asian region over the last two years and foresees additional announcements in the country, expanding into main cities and burgeoning resort destinations.
Bernardo Cabot, VP of Meliá Hotels International, Asia Pacific comments on the Zhengzhou signings: “The addition of these two brands brings a range of facilities and service cultures unparalleled in Zhengzhou. We are proud and excited to bring our brands to this quickly developing city, as a part of our expansion strategy in the main Chinese destinations.”
Innside by Meliá is a modern, urban lifestyle brand that focuses on atmosphere and service, borne out of Germany. Meanwhile, Meliá Hotels & Resorts is the group’s city and resort brand, focusing on delivering traditional Spanish service and combining design with functionality.
