Thailand-based ONYX Hospitality Group has announced that it is set to enter an exciting period of development for its most established hotel brand, Amari, as well as its entry into the Vietnamese market with its OZO brand.
Compared to the same period in 2014, ONYX has seen an increase in its gross operating profit by 36% during the first three quarters of this year, keeping the group on track to meet its target of tripling GOP by 2018.
Despite some continued challenges this year, revenue is forecasted to be 15% ahead of 2014 by year end. Continuing the turnaround which began at the end of last year, the total room revenue for Thailand-based properties has increased by 21.4% and by 19.4% for overseas properties compared to the same period of the previous year.
Looking ahead, ONYX has announced the 15th January 2016 opening of Amari Havodda Maldives, a private and pristine hideaway which will feature 120 villas. In addition, following an extensive expansion, Amari Koh Samui will re-open its doors on the Thai island on 1st April 2016.
ONYX’s OZO brand is also going through a period of accelerated development. May 2015 saw the fifth property in the portfolio open, as OZO Kandy Sri Lanka welcomed its first guests.
ONYX continues to break new ground and will enter Vietnam for the first time with OZO Hoi An, through the recent partnership agreement signing with HB Group to manage a 364-room beachfront resort in New Hoi An City area. The hotel is scheduled to open in early 2017. Also scheduled for 2017 is the opening of Amari Galle, which marks the entry of the Amari brand in Sri Lanka.
“We are delighted with the results of 2015 which has been a highly significant year for ONYX Hospitality Group,” says Peter Henley, President & CEO, ONYX Hospitality Group. “As well as key developments with our Amari hotel brand, we are thrilled by the progression of OZO and the response to the brand among hotel guests and investors. Our most recent announcement, introducing our unique OZO brand concept to Vietnam, is set to take ONYX into new markets in the coming years.”
ONYX currently has a portfolio of 59 properties, including 20 properties in development, ensuring its strategic plan to manage 81 hotels, resorts and serviced apartments by 2018 is on track to being achieved.
