Pedrali, one of Italy’s pioneering furniture manufacturers, has received the German Design Award 2014 for its Frida chair. Designed by Odo Fioravanti, the chair stood out among 99 other winners and more than 1900 nominations in the internationally-recognised competition hosted by the German Design Council and judged by a panel of independent experts.
Already awarded the Compasso d’Oro ADI in 2011, the concept is proof of Pedrali’s expertise when it comes to creating pieces with high levels of design, comfort and durability. Frida’s solid-wood frame is connected with a thin, three-dimensional, curved plywood shell – providing a light and dynamic design feature.
Odo Fioravanti says: “The chair combines our aesthetic and technological demands, it demonstrates a love for detail and excels through its simplicity.”
Pedrali has also obtained a 2013 Chain of Custody certification, which guarantees the origin of the raw material from forests managed correctly and with responsibility, according to strict environmental, social and economic standards.
