Sankara Nairobi, Kenya, has received accreditation from SafeHotels for its excellence in safety and crisis management – making it the first hotel in Africa to receive the accolade.
Safehotels’ aim is to provide an objective third-party evaluation of business hotel and conference venues’ security standard worldwide. The organisation’s global operations director, Andy Williams, says: “Safety is a major concern, especially for hotels, and should be taken seriously. Our company was created due to the fact that safety is one of the main concerns within the international hotel and meeting industry today.”
Sankara Nairobi is also Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certified, and was the first hotel in Sub-Saharan Africa to achieve the certification in 2011. HACCP is recognised as one of the most comprehensive preventative food safety management systems in the world.
