Celebrating its ninth consecutive year in 2014, the Shaw Contract Group Design Is… Award honours innovative and creative design by asking entrants to redefine what design is by analysing the challenges, process and results of their projects. This year’s programme will continue with market awards, the winners of which are automatically entered into the Global Awards Programme and People’s Choice Voting. Prominent members of the design community will judge entries across all market segments including healthcare, education, government, public space, corporate, retail and hospitality.
“The Design Is… Award continues to champion design excellence across market segments and around the world,” says John Stephens, vice president of marketing for Shaw Contract Group. “We honour these projects that achieve both human and business goals in ways that represent the best practices in global design.”
Shaw Contract Group will promote global winners through marketing materials, media outreach and an advertisement campaign in leading A&D publications. In addition, winning firms receive US$ 2000 to donate to the school or organisation of their choice.
Since 2006, Shaw Contract Group had donated over US$ 80,000 through its Design Is… Award programme to support design education and social responsibility. In the last eight years, more than 1700 entries have been submitted from 31 countries around the world.
All design projects using Shaw Contract Group, Shaw Hospitality Group and Shaw Hard Surface products, completed between February 2012 and February 2014, are eligible for entry. As carpet plays only a part of the project, the overall design space is considered. Design firms may enter their projects online via the Shaw Contract Group website by 28th February.
