Iconic Soho music venue, Borderline, will be relaunching in March this year with a refreshed interior and improved facilities.
Borderline’s key location has always been highly sought after by both established music stars and emerging musicians and, since launching in the late 80s, the likes of R.E.M, Rage Against The Machine, PJ Harvey, Rolling Stones and Oasis have all graced the Borderline’s stage.
The venue’s new owners, DHP Family, have once again collaborated with previous design partners, Zopsigog, whom they worked with on Hackney’s Oslo. The Borderline’s 300 capacity layout has been altered to create a flowing space that provides the best possible experience for both performer and audience.
A new cocktail lounge area, tucked away in the corner of the venue, features striking brushed brass fittings and surfaces, with rich burgundy and teal textures on the walls and soft furnishings.
Elsewhere, blackened steel, charcoal undertones and gold finishes are juxtaposed by vibrant wall art, splashes of sun-bleached colour alongside a couple of subtle references to the Borderline’s Mexican heritage.
DHP Family’s main objective was to reestablish Borderline as the definitive central London location to watch tomorrow’s best new music, alongside current rising stars, whilst not forgetting its rich heritage of spotlighting key international artists and significant underplays.
