Award-winning interior design firm, Space ID, has won a contract to redesign the entire Vermont Hotel in Newcastle, starting with the reception, the bar and restaurant, before finishing at the top of the hotel – the fifth floor – which offers views of the River Tyne and the iconic Millennium Bridge.
The company – which is based at the Jupiter Centre at the North East Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) in Sunderland – was set up five years ago by Phil Young alongside fellow directors Marc Hardy and Mike Simmons. Interior designer, Danielle Hart, has recently joined the team – which boasts a combined 50 years’ experience in architecture and interior design.
“It is always an exciting challenge to revamp a busy hotel, especially one which runs at a high capacity,” Phil says. “The team at Space ID has a lot of experience in renovating hotels, and we are really excited to get cracking with the task at hand.
“This year looks very promising. We are currently working on a coffee bar and cocktail bar in Seaham, as well as putting in initial development with the council for a new hotel and spa just outside of Glasgow – which has potential to be a two-year contract.”
