The prestigious four star George Hotel in Edinburgh – part of the PH Hotels Group – has announced the internal promotion of Douglas Campbell to hotel manager. Following four years with the company as director of regional sales, Douglas will now be responsible for overseeing the hotel’s day-to-day operational functions, including housekeeping, bar and restaurant and front of house.
Douglas has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, having previously worked for high profile companies including Hilton and Sodexo Prestige, before joining PH Hotels in 2008. In addition to looking after The George Hotel,”Douglas also played a pivotal role in the £20m refurbishment of the iconic Grand Central”Hotel in Glasgow.
“The George is one of Edinburgh’s finest hotels and I am excited to take on this new role,” says Douglas. “We are coming into one of our busy seasons now with the Edinburgh Festival just around the corner and I’m looking forward to building on the fantastic reputation of the George and bringing fresh new ideas to the business.”
Douglas studied at Glasgow College, before going on to start his career at the city’s Moat House hotel. He is also the current president of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives, and was recently awarded PH Hotel Rising Star Medal 2013.
