Further to receiving planning permission earlier this year to transform the prestigious Wellington Block in Covent Garden, groundbreaking lifestyle brand The Other House has appointed renowned construction firm, Ellmer, to begin transforming the island site into the second outpost of this innovative Residents’ Club.
Located moments from the famous piazza, The Other House Covent Garden will offer The Other House’s signature Club Flats, with public areas comprising a destination cocktail bar, The Owl & Monkey, casual street café, The Other Kitchen, and a rooftop bar with stunning views across the city. The Private Club for Residents and Members will offer private bars and a dining area, and wellness and wellbeing retreat, The Other Space, with vitality pool, treatment area and hi-tech gym.
The landmark property consists of seven separate historic buildings, including a former rectory, with plans to create a beautiful inner glazed atrium and to add a further three floors, affording guests excellent views across central London.
Ellmer Construction will be joining architects Falconer Chester Hall and interior designers Bergman Design House, to deliver The Other House Covent Garden, who both worked on The Other House South Kensington, which opened in July 2022 to great acclaim. Completely in tune with their brand vision, the second outpost of The Other House promises to deliver bold, distinctive design, state of the art facilities and a commitment to sustainability, from the ground up.
Naomi Heaton, CEO and Founder, The Other House said: “We are delighted to have appointed Ellmer as our construction partner for The Other House Covent Garden. With their outstanding portfolio of luxury hotels and residential apartments, and an industry-wide reputation for delivering projects to the highest standards, they are a natural fit for such a painstaking and ambitious project. Our Covent Garden site embodies everything we want to achieve – sensitively restoring a historic space in prime central London and transforming it into something that truly caters for the eco-conscious, global traveller and the local community. It’s thrilling to see construction now underway.”
Michael Byrne, CEO, Ellmer Construction said: “Ellmer Construction is privileged to have been awarded the construction project of The Other House Covent Garden. We are excited to have begun on site and look forward to working collaboratively with the team to ensure successful delivery of this prestigious and innovative project, and thank The Other House for the trust they have put in Ellmer Construction as their construction partner.”
