The Wildhive Collection, the boutique hospitality brand deeply rooted in nature, has announced it has acquired Eshott Hall in Northumberland. The historic 17th-century manor in the quaint village of Eshott will be the group’s second site, following the award-winning Wildhive Callow Hall in rural Derbyshire, which opened in September 2021.
Having acquired Eshott Hall from The Robert Parker Collection, the hotel will run as a going concern until late 2025, when it will transition to a Wildhive hotel. The plans are to fully refurbish the main house and create experiential accommodation in the wild, much like Wildhive Callow Hall.
Eshott Hall’s location between Alnwick and Morpeth makes it the perfect base to explore the surrounding countryside and coastline, including the beautiful Northumberland Coastal Path, nearby Farne Islands with its abundant wildlife, as well as the spectacular castles of Bamburgh and Alnwick. It has been an exciting period for the destination over recent years, with North East England announced as the first-ever Destination Development Partnership pilot in England, receiving £2.25 million in government funding to grow the visitor economy.
Ed Burrows D.L. co-founder of The Wildhive Collection said: “We have spent a long time looking for our second site, wanting somewhere that fits our long-term vision for The Wildhive Collection and we’re really excited about the possibilities at Eshott Hall.
“There is already a strong team in place at the hotel that we look forward to nurturing, and we’re excited to work with the brilliant team at Visit North East England to bring more people to this fantastic part of the country.”
The Wildhive Collection was founded by Ed Burrows and Charles Randall, whose vision was to create a unique and characterful collection of houses with experiential accommodation, dotted around lesser-known parts of the UK. At the heart of the Wildhive philosophy is locality, community, and a responsibility towards the planet and people through sustainable and restorative practices.
Co-founder Charles Randall adds: “We are very excited to announce our second acquisition in the stunning county of Northumberland. This move aligns with our long-term strategy and company vision to provide out-of-the-ordinary guest experiences in destinations that celebrate heritage, culture, and natural beauty, and we’re looking forward to giving guests a warm Wildhive welcome.”
