Trishna in Marylebone Village, London, has relaunched following a month of refurbishment. Trishna is the first restaurant of chef proprietor Karam Sethi, who launched second venture Gymkhana to critical acclaim last September.
Commenting on the relaunch, Karam says: “When I opened Trishna in 2008, I wanted to challenge what I considered to be a simplistic perception of Indian food in the UK and demonstrate the variety and range of India’s authentic, regional cuisines. The success of Gymkhana last year has alerted an even broader audience to the possibilities of Indian cooking, and I look forward to welcoming loyal regulars and new faces to my first restaurant, which I am very proud of.”
The interior has been created by B3 Designers, which has retained Trishna’s pared back aesthetic while adding touches of grown-up luxury. The walls have taken on pale blue reclaimed timber panelling, and are studded with bronze wall sconces. Solid oak dining tables are lit by antique brass pendant lights suspended above. An antique mirror feature has been installed adjacent to the marble-topped bar at the back of the ground floor, providing an impressive backdrop to a new grey velvet banquette.
Trishna’s private dining room, enclosed within the restaurant’s wine cellar, offers a more intimate experience, and can comfortably accommodate 12 seated guests.
